A project is the workspace for one engagement. Create one when you have a clear scope of work that will produce multiple invoices; otherwise, skip projects and just create an invoice directly.
Project lifecycle
- Lead — initial contact, scoping. Often started as a quote.
- Active — accepted the quote, work underway.
- On hold — paused (waiting on client feedback, payment, etc).
- Completed — work done, final invoice sent.
- Cancelled — abandoned.
Statuses are simple; we don't model probability, value, or close date per status. If you want CRM rigour, use a CRM tool.
Tasks
Each project has its own Kanban-style task board. Tasks can be:
- Todo / In Progress / Pending / Done — the standard column set
- Cancelled — track-and-drop; not deleted
You can move tasks between columns via drag-and-drop. Pending replaces the old "Blocked" label.
Time entries
Attach time entries to tasks (or directly to the project). Each entry has a date, a duration, and optional notes. Time entries can be batch-invoiced from the project page — see time-tracking.
